Join Paediatric Days for the third in our series of post-conference webinars on the topic of humanitarian paediatrics.
Analysis based on the Global Burden of Diseases, Injuries, and Risk Factors Study (GBD) 2019, found that globally, 32·7% of all adolescent deaths were due to transport injuries, unintentional injuries, or interpersonal violence and conflict (Lancet 2021). According to Save the Children’s latest 2024 report: Stop the War on Children-Let Children Live in Peace, the “killing and maiming of children has risen an appalling 31% compared to the previous year. This amounts to an average of 31 children per day”.
Children are particularly vulnerable to injury during conflicts due to their physiology, lack of awareness of dangerous places and weapons, and tendency to play outside in groups.
Decreasing morbidity and mortality from paediatric trauma has huge potential in improving the lives of children. Join us on June 10 for a discussion on strategies for improving paediatric trauma management along the chain of survival.

Join Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) Paediatric Days for the second in our series of post-conference webinars on the topic of humanitarian paediatrics. In this session we tackle the topic of Play and the critical role that it serves in humanitarian interventions. It is critical that we move beyond thinking of Play as a “nice-to-have” part of health programming.
Play is a fundamental right of the child. Not only is it a powerful evidence-informed pathway for psychosocial support, but it is essential to children’s development, fostering emotional expression, resilience, social connection, and developmental continuity. Despite its recognized value, play remains under-integrated and inconsistently operationalised across humanitarian responses.
This webinar brings together operational experiences and tools from multiple organisations—including MSF, UNICEF as well as academics in the field to explore practical approaches to integrating play into MHPSS and paediatric care across diverse humanitarian contexts.

This March, we kick-off our webinar series by welcoming Prof Kathryn Maitland, author of the famous FEAST trial, to discuss the GASTROSAM trial, another study that promises to shift our paradigm in rehydrating malnourished children. Hear from the authors themselves about this study and the implications for managing the fluid resuscitation of severely malnourished and dehydrated children.
